A Web Revolution in the Living room: Opera partners with Nintendo to put browser on the Wii™ game console
Oslo, Norway and Los Angeles, Calif., May 10, 2006
Opera Software, a world leader in Web browser technology, today announced that Nintendo's much anticipated new generation game console, Wii, will use the Opera browser.

Users of the Wii console will browse the Internet using their consoles. Navigating via the innovative new Wii Remote controller, users can visit Web sites in between gaming sessions.

"Nintendo is clearly visionary in leading the gaming industry into the new era in gaming, and a wonderful partner for Opera," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Nintendo, and work with them to deliver the best gaming experience on the Wii console and the Nintendo DS™."

Even bigger in Japan: Opera on ten 3G handsets from KDDI

Oslo, Norway – May 22, 2006

Opera Software and Japan's largest 3G operator, KDDI, today announced that Opera Software's Mobile browser will be shipped on five new mobile phones in KDDI's featured summer series. Opera Mobile has previously been included on five KDDI models in 2006, including the recently announced, WiFi-enabled Sanyo E02SA. With the inclusion of KDDI's summer series, Opera Mobile will have been a key application on ten KDDI 3G handsets so far in 2006.

The Opera Mobile browser will be included on the following BREW-based devices for KDDI's summer series: Sanyo W33SA II, Sony-Ericsson W42S, Casio W42CA, Hitachi W42H and Toshiba W44T. This follows the announcement of the Opera Mobile browser so far in 2006 on the Hitachi W41H, Casio W41CA, Sony-Ericsson W41S, Toshiba W43T and Sanyo E02SA.

“We recognize that our users demand a superior product that offers them an unsurpassed browsing experience,” says Hiroyuki Sakaniwa, Group Leader, Application Platform Group, Product Management Department, “au” Service & Product Planning Division “au” Business Sector, KDDI. “That is why we have selected the Opera Mobile browser.”

The new summer series handsets will include enhanced browser features such as a password manager, portal search directly from the UI, and performance improvements. The Sanyo E02SA, will be the first mobile device from KDDI designed specifically for corporate clients and can be used both as a telephone for making calls using VoIP, and as a mobile phone.

“The Japanese market is setting the standard for mobile technology,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “KDDI's commitment to continue to include Opera on their new handsets is a testament to KDDI's focus on quality.”

The 3G network in Japan is growing steadily with approximately 40 million subscribers. With 2G being phased out of the Japanese market, Opera recognizes the demand for its advanced browsing solutions to enable advanced 3G Web services.

Opera Software today announced that William J. Raduchel has joined its Board of Directors. The accomplished IT-industry veteran strengthens Opera's board with his experience from companies including AOL, AOL Time Warner, Sun Microsystems, Xerox and McGraw-Hill. Raduchel's key contribution to Opera's future will be his thorough understanding of how the areas of technology, media and information are merging.

"I've been familiar with Opera Software for more than 10 years and I've always admired the company's vision" says Bill Raduchel. "Opera is leading the way in defining how content will be distributed on devices."

Raduchel shared Opera's vision of the mobile Web as far back as in 1999. He held executive positions at Xerox and McGraw Hill prior to joining Sun Microsystems where he spent 11 years as Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Information Officer in addition to a range of other positions. He joined AOL in September 1999 as Chief Technology Officer and held the same position at AOL Time Warner after the merger. During this time InfoWorld named him CTO of the year.

Mr. Raduchel left AOL Time Warner at the end of 2002 to become an independent director, angel investor and strategic advisor. From May of 2004 until recently, he was chairman of the board of Ruckus Network, a digital entertainment network for students, serving also as CEO during much of this time. Mr. Raduchel is also a director at additional IT-related corporations, ranging from new start-ups to public companies.

"I spent three years at AOL TimeWarner learning how the media and technology sectors are integrating. Opera is right at the center of that space. I will be able to bring my experience and significant understanding of current trends to Opera's Board," says Bill Raduchel.

"Bill's expertise is invaluable to Opera Software. He provides crucial insight on how Opera can leverage its leadership in providing seamless cross-device access to the Web and other services," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, Opera Software CEO.

In its Annual General Meeting held on June 15, 2006, Opera Software's shareholders also approved Nils A. Foldal as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Hab da was gefunden....

3. Kompatibilität dieser verschiedenen Visualisierungen. Eine "Website" für alle Geräte! Opera hat die Lösung dafür. Server richten die Seiten entsprechent Online her!

Was bleibt Opera dann noch?
