Sorry it took so long to respond. I was gone for part of the day.
In regard to your first statement about written info from someone knowledgeable: No one knows Calypte better than Dr. George and Rick Brounstein. Although it's unlikely that any of us could talk directly to them. You can however check Calypte’s website and read the latest filings and news articles. I find the NR’s very informative. Plus you can listen to Conference Calls when available. I still have some of the transcripts from the most recent CC’s, they are some of the most valuable sources for me. I try to post these when someone mentions a subject that Dr. George covered, such as your question today. Another source of info that I recommend is from readssthe10qs. I know that is going to shock some people here because most of his posts are quite negative. The reason I read his posts is because sometimes my perspective is too one sided. He knows the history of Calypte and especially its former Chairman of the Board, Tony Cataldo. As an example of why I like to read his posts - there was a question from “umpujv” #2653 about HIV’s cumulative debt. Because readssthe10qs posts are usually negative you know that if Calypte had any debt he would have found it.
As a word of caution: The yahoo board can get ugly at times so you have to let some of it roll off your back otherwise you can get cynical.
As far as the prediction of .05 cent/share: No one from the Company as far as I know has ever made that statement. The information from the CC in my post was an estimate for when the Company might be profitable. They came to that conclusion by using minimal penetration rates in China and Africa. Those sales are contingent upon government approvals.
You also mentioned production of rapid tests starting soon. Dr. George said in the November CC… “The SFDA, because we are considered to be a Chinese company, due to our Joint Ventures, will give us what is called the “Green Light Pass” through the regulatory process. On this path, they have a regulatory requirement to respond to our application in 90 days. We’ve padded that a little, but just to give us some cushion. We are predicting that we will have an answer from the SFDA by July 1st of 2005.”
So, first the clinical results, second, SFDA approval, third, SALES.
