NeoMedia and Samsung Italy Drive the Next Phase of Enterprise Mobility

Collaboration between market leaders brings mobile barcode scanning technology to businesses in Italy

NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM.OB), the global leader in mobile barcode scanning solutions, and Samsung Electronics Italy, Italian subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today their plans to collaborate on delivering mobile enterprise services to customers throughout Italy. The partnership will see the NeoReader™ Enterprise application pre-loaded in Samsung's Omnia II devices bringing the power of mobile barcode technology to businesses and consumers alike. NeoMedia and Samsung Electronics Italy will also begin an assessment phase with the aim to have NeoReader pre-installed across all Samsung platforms giving enterprises the choice and flexibility they want and offering consumers a rich and more interactive mobile experience.

In the first instance, the solution has been adopted by a leading train operator, as part of its ticket checking process. A ticket code is printed on paper tickets which are then scanned and transferred by the NeoReader Application for processing by the ticket checking application.

The NeoReader application is an individual custom-built mobile barcode solution that leverages the ability to read 1D and 2D barcodes with the built-in camera. The mobile phone can then be used in a number of various enterprise applications for example to "track and trace" data, products, and services but also for field force management, quality control, insurance damage or loss reporting. NeoMedia's solution combines the best features of mobility, communications and task functionality whilst empowering mobile workforces.
