"What a day - and what a line up
A lot of interesting notes and take-aways for Barents Blue-days here in Hammerfest.
- Our CEO, Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen talked about we are setting out to do - to build a world scale clean ammonia plant and what we need to do if we are to succeed with reaching our common climate targets.
- We need to give carbon a proper burial! We still need the energy from natural gas, but we need to secure the carbon capture and storage. Eivind Berstad from Miljøstiftelsen Bellona, gave us key insight on Bellona’s position and how we can work together to ensure the best possible policy and framework for low-carbon industries.
- People matters in building new industries, and sustainable businesses attract people. Dag Rune Olsen from UiT Norges arktiske universitet spoke about how industry, social society and academia collaborate to ensure a skilled workforce for the green transition. That’s why Horisont Energi will work closely with both educational bodies and academia to ensure the needed competencies.
- Hans Jacob Bønå, county mayor has ambitious goals for the region, and in order to reach them, Finnmark needs to be forward leaning in securing regional value creation whilst decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Investments in cutting emissions are investments in future profitability. An important message from former mayor of Hammerfest, and now member of parliament for the Labour Party, Marianne Sivertsen Næss. But more importantly, the northern most part of Norway cannot be left behind in the green transition. We need to secure that a portion of the natural resources from the Barents Sea will give local value creation.
