Keine Ahnung.

MEDL own bit over 75% equity stake in Hang With currently. You can confirm this with CEO.
Usage has been growing steadily from what I have seen in last 6 months. Lately more new users are broadcasting and viewing.
Advertising will start at some point soon as the management doesn't want to rush and ruin the revenue generation.

Der Anteil beträgt also 75%.

A lot of developers are also bringing their apps from iOS and Android devices and making the experience more personal. Hang w/ is once such video streaming app and it happens to be backed by rapper 50 Cent. Its goal is to allow people to broadcast and narrate interesting moments in their lives or follow people who are doing just that. Celebrity involvement could make Google Glass' point-of-view concept and apps like this the next Twitter.

‘We’re not looking for investors,’ Maltin stressed, ‘but celebrities make good investors.’

Maltin estimates that in six months or a year, the company will be selling advertisements on the broadcasts and whatever ad revenues they bring in will be shared with the celebrity.

Oddly enough, Maltin said A-list stars often aren’t the best celebrities to draw followers to the broadcasts.

‘A-listers really aren’t the best people for a platform like this,’ he said. ‘People would much rather watch Kim Kardashian and Charlie Sheen than Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. (Kardashian and Sheen) are people who are interested in social media and are willing to do more crazy things in general.’

Entertainers around the world can use Hang W/, he said. In India alone, he noted, Bollywood stars have legions of fans.

Where will the company be a year from now?

‘I think we’ll be pretty big,’ Maltin said. ‘I think we’ll be one of the killer social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.’

519 Postings, 4047 Tage biotech1x1Die Übernahme von What's App...

schlägt in Übersee ganz schön hohe Wellen.

Hang w/ Developer Plans Unlimited Broadcast for Google Glass
The popular live broadcasting mobile app could soon find a home on Google Glass featuring an unlimited option for constant video streaming.

Live streaming social app Hang w/ could soon get an unlimited broadcast option for Google Glass. That would be a “revolutionary technology," says Dave Swartz, co-owner, president, and chief creative officer of MEDL Mobile, the app's developer.

Currently Hang w/ users, which the developer calls "broadcasters," can stream clips from their iOS devices live to the Hang w/ site and share to Facebook, in lengths of three, six, or nine minutes.

“Nobody has ever built a live streaming platform with the aim of making it a social media platform,” says Swartz. “We are trying to create an ecosystem with a balance between people who want to share their lives and people who want to watch. And so the various lengths of broadcasts are giving some framework for how to use it."

Swartz adds: “Initially, we launched with only three minutes, because our sense was that a short 'snackable' broadcast would be best. But the number one request from new users was for longer broadcasts. and so we added six and nine. We have plans to add longer segments as well.

“We may also release an unlimited broadcast option for Google Glass, which we see as a revolutionary technology application.”

Glass test users can already live stream video to the web, but Swartz says streaming live from Google Glass into Hang w/ “is a very different thing.”

“The difference is that streaming into Hang w/ is a social media experience and not just a live streaming experience,” he explains. “There are communities forming on Hang w/ that include people from all over the world who enjoy 'being with' each other.

“It's not just about the streaming. It's also about the being with other people. We are not too far from being able to be in one place, but look through your glasses into other places -- right now -- all around the world.”

A Hang w/ broadcaster's archived videos can be viewed on his or her profile page, and -- via an online viewer -- broadcasts can be shared to Facebook. Once shared, those broadcasts can be re-shared virally, even while happening live.

However, says Swartz, the broadcaster is in control. “When a broadcast is over, the broadcaster also has the ability to hide the broadcast from ever being seen again. If a broadcast has already been shared to Facebook, the link is removed and replaced with a message that the broadcaster has chosen to make this video private.”

An upgraded app for Android, capable of six and nine minute options, is being readied.

“The challenges of balancing a system that relies on both the upload and simultaneous download of streaming video get a little more complex when you add in the fact that it needs to be optimized across the fractionalized Android landscape,” Swartz explains. “When we feel that the update is optimized across the top devices in the market, we'll release the update.”

Since launch last March, the ad-supported app has been downloaded one million times, and has attracted athletes and celebrities to help promote, use, and invest in it, including Larry the Cable Guy, 50 Cent, Timbaland, and Terrell Owens.

NFL wide receiver Owens, who has a stake in MEDL, has clocked 10,000 followers to his Hang w/ broadcasts.

“Six to nine minutes is an ideal time to broadcast because you think three minutes is along time but it goes pretty fast and by the time you've got yourself set up the time was up,” Owens said.

Although not a Google Glass owner, Owens described the porting of Hang w/ to Glass as “groundbreaking.”

MEDL Mobile Holdings Inc (MEDL) Should See Significant Appreciation With Its Hang W/ Social Media Platform.
Jan 12, 2014 3:33 PM | about stocks: MEDL, GOOG
Came across an article interesting article on MEDL Mobile Holdings from Insider Monkey. It's a few months old, but amazing insightful when they speculated that:

One potential area that has "yet to be explored" is the potential for mobile app makers to integrate with the Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass.

In essence, the author was speculating/guessing that the videos being taken by Hang w/ members using their smartphone camera, could be instead be used by a member wearing Google Glass.

Good call, because on January 2nd nearly three months later, MEDL announced "Hang W/ Debuts on Google Glass."

The press release stated, "The Google Glass version of the app allows users to share what they are seeing and hearing live with all of the users of the Hang w/ application."

Andrew Maltin, CEO said, "We believe Hang w/ is a killer app for Google Glass. The idea of being able to broadcast hands-free and share everything you are seeing via live streaming video is incredibly exciting."

What he means by "incredibly exciting" is the difference between walking up to an event, let's call it a brawl in a nightclub between some East Coast and West Coast rappers - with camera in hand vs just looking at them through your glasses.

Imagine how quickly that camera would be knocked out of your hand, if you were foolish enough to try to tape it. Now imagine if your foolish/bold enough to risk suffering some personal collateral damage, but you still want to get in there and you film the event just by looking at them with your Google glasses on! You could be under a cocktail table or slightly behind a burly security guard for cover or even hopping over some lounge couches mid-brawl...yeah, exciting.

Now of course that's a crazy example, but it highlights two features. One which is not having to hold your phone to video whatever it is you want to video live. And two, that the subject your filming will be much more relaxed and free to act more candidly, when they don't have a camera in their face. Think of a paparazzi on the red carpet talking to a celebrity. All around a much more comfortable experience.

There was also an interesting article in IntoMobile.com with Robert Scoble who is the most visible of the Google Glass Explorers and a prominent supporter of Google's wearable tech. He wore the Glass at last weeks CES and the Hang w/ connection.

The article stated that "Hang w/ allows its users to broadcast their video streams socially, sharing live. The service is coming to Google Glass and will let glassholes broadcast what they're seeing and hearing live. Since Glass is worn by the user, it will pretty much be the equivalent to a constantly streaming helmet-cam."

While there is much speculation when the Glass will be available to the public, on thing we feel sure of is that Hang w/ can supercharge the attractiveness of Glass and being a Google product, vica versa..

As the they "..any press is good press" and when a small company with a $15 million market cap and be mentioned in the same article Google is, very good indeed.

Disclosure: I am long MEDL.
