Denver-based Broe Group, doing business as Windsor Renewal I, bought 320 acres of land in Windsor from the Eastman Kodak Co., according to a Tuesday news release.
The land is part of the Great Western Industrial Park. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
“This is an opportunity to redevelop and re-energize what was once a thriving campus in Windsor, by attracting new rail-served industry and creating jobs,” Clay Drake, director of business development for The Broe Group in the region, said in the release. “The Great Western Industrial Park, which now encompasses more than 1,800 acres, continues to be a powerful economic engine in Colorado.”
The deal included the park getting more than 500,000 square feet of industrial buildings, tank storage, water rights and about two miles of rails, which the company plans to extend “to create a loop within the park to add capacity to meet growing demand for rail service,” according to the release.
Demolition of the Kodak plant there is expected to be completed this year, and the company will lease back portions of the acquired property and continue operations at the park, according to Broe.
In addition to owning the Great Western Oil & Gas Co., Broe (
www.broe.com) controls more than 750,000 square feet of industrial facilities in Northern Colorado, according to the company.
It also owns the 80-mile Great Western Railway regional rail system and since 2005, has been acquiring land from Kodak and other Weld County landowners to create the business park, according to the company. Manufacturing and energy companies use the park.
Nationwide, Broe manages an estimated 29 million square feet of real estate.
