The tunnel heading in Silverado’s Swede Channel Project is continuing to yield impressive gold nuggets from samples taken by Engineers.
Periodic scans with a metal detector of the bedrock and gravel interface have produced an impressive array of placer gold ranging in size from small gold grains or fines, to gold nuggets weighing up to nearly 2/3rds of a troy ounce apiece.
On February 9th and 10th - 2006, during 3 hours of selective sampling of the pay channel, approximately 2.1 ounces of placer gold was recovered on bedrock. This included three large gold nuggets weighing 0.375, 0.529, and 0.612 troy ounces respectively. At today’s gold price, Silverado would receive about $US 1350.00 for these three nuggets selling wholesale to jewelers. Our gold nuggets command an average 66% premium over gold price.
Total material sampled was equal to about 2.5 cubic feet of gravel on bedrock.
Our experience with results such as these indicates that our pay pile, which will be sluiced to remove the gold this summer, will contain significant values in high quality jewelry grade gold nuggets and placer gold fines.
The tunnel is being advanced at an average rate of nearly 20 feet per day up the gut of the Swede Channel.
