FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hang w/, the celebrity-driven live-streaming video mobile app, today released statistics showing that the Hang w/ platform engages fans five to 250 times more than leading social media platforms. The metrics compared the percentage of Hang w/ celebrity followers who "Tune In" to a celebrity's broadcast versus the percentage of followers of the same celebrities who "like," "favorite," "retweet," "comment," and "share" on the major social media platforms.
Hang w/ user analytics reveal that fans on Hang w/ are more likely to Tune In to a celebrity's three- to nine-minute live broadcast than fans are to engage in the following social media activities:
Hang w/ Tune In versus Facebook like: 5:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Instagram comment: 19:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Twitter favorite: 153:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Twitter retweet: 195:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Facebook share: 250:1
The Hang w/ platform, which allows users to "hang with" celebrities and each other via live-streaming video and simultaneous chat, was created in part to help celebrities and users with large followings to build authentic and interactive social media relationships. The platform allows users to follow people who interest them and notifies users when that person broadcasts live.
"Hang w/ is proving to be a powerful platform for fan engagement," said Hang With, Inc. co-founder and CEO Andrew Maltin. "We've always believed live broadcasts are far more exciting to a fan than reading 140 characters, viewing an image or even watching a video. And now the analytics show it to be overwhelmingly true."
The topic of fan engagement has become a focus of Hollywood executives and companies like Facebook and Twitter who are seeking more meaningful engagement between celebrities and fans - and are not simply counting the total numbers of followers.
The Hang w/ platform has attracted more than 100 actors, athletes, musicians and entertainers including 50 Cent, Ali Landry, Cheech and Chong, Claudia Jordan, Jamie Kennedy, Kaskade, Larry the Cable Guy, Lucy Hale, Terrell Owens and Timbaland.
