Aladdin 4Q Profit Dips on Higher Costs

Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd., a computer network security provider, said Monday that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit slipped 8 percent on higher operating costs.
Earnings fell to $3.6 million, or 24 cents per share, from $3.9 million, or 26 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $4.2 million, or 28 cents per share, excluding a $500,000 stock-based compensation charge.
The company's total operating expenses increased 16 percent to $15.2 million from $13.1 million on higher research and development, selling and marketing and general and administrative costs.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial are looking for earnings of 27 cents per share.
Quarterly revenue rose 12 percent to $24.3 million versus $21.8 million last year, topping Wall Street's estimate of $23.2 million.
Full-year net income grew 13 percent to $14 million, or 93 cents per share, from $12.4 million, or 85 cents per share.
Adjusted earnings for 2006 were $16.3 million, or $1.08 per share, excluding a $2.3 million stock based compensation charge.
Full-year sales climbed to $89 million, up 9 percent from $81.8 million.
