It is not accurate to state that JPMorgan Chase acquired $150 billion in assets from Washington Mutual for only $1.9 billion, as most of the assets acquired by JPMorgan Chase will be used to pay the liabilities they also acquired.

As you can see from this excerpt from the JPMorgan Chase & Co 2008 Annual Report, most of the assets they acquired are offset by the liabilities they also acquired.
