The KRW554 billion (US$566 million) deepwater drilling unit, scheduled for delivery by September 2010, would be Transocean's fifth newbuild drillship order placed with DSME since 2006.
When complete, the rig will be capable of drilling up to 40,000 feet (12,192 metres) in 12,000 feet (3,658 metres) of water. The contract value does not include an owner-furnished subsea drilling package.
To date, DSME has seven newbuild drillships on its outstanding order book, including the latest order from Transocean.
