ABOUT PAPER CLICK
PaperClick Technology Provides a Direct Portal from Print to the World Wide Web.
A PaperClick code gives readers and shoppers immediate and direct access to Web content and transactions. The code can be a short string of numbers for expedited keypad or portable device access; or a short string of letters or numbers for spontaneity of recall; and includes an industry standard barcode for ultimate ease of use.
PaperClick uses a standard browser, optional client software, and a network of service and applications servers deployed across the Internet.
This interchange is transparent to the user, who simply manually enters or scans the PaperClick code and connects to tailored on-line Web information.
PaperClick codes allow users to connect to Web information by entering a few digits, a short character string from the PC keyboard, or scanning a barcode on a document or object. The PC then becomes a conduit, connecting the user directly to related Web content.
PaperClick codes can be scanned using the optional A.T. Cross NetPen, the Symbol Technologies Cyber Pen, the Welch Allyn ST6180, or various corded wand scanners. PaperClick codes are scanned or manually entered for direct connection to Web site information. The Paper Click PC software includes two distinct modules; the PaperClick Publisher Service and the PaperClick PC Software. Together these modules can link consumers or readers from any printed document, such as a newspaper article, a newsletter, or an ad in a magazine to a specific web site that contains targeted information.
The Publisher Service enables a user to define a numeric or alphabetic PaperClick code. During this definition process the publisher specifies a particular Internet address (URL) to be linked to the PaperClick code. When this code is published, a PaperClick PC Software user can scan or enter the code, which launches your browser and displays the web page.
PaperClick ToGoTMcomplements the PaperClick Publishing Service by giving publishers, advertisers, readers and shoppers a convenient way to access Internet information from personal computers or cellular phones using the same PaperClick codes.
Wireless Application Service Providers can now drive traffic through all carriers by linking numeric PaperClick ToGoTM codes to World Wide Web addresses.
Cellular telephone carriers can now help their customers conveniently access the Internet with their cellular phones by using PaperClick numbers to "call up" information.
Some cellular phones are now equipped with microbrowsers that can display condensed versions of web pages. These condensed web pages have the same kind of lengthy URL's that regular web pages do.
But on cell phones entering a URL is a lot more trouble, since cell phones don't have alphabetic keyboards. Entering a number would be a lot easier!
PaperClick ToGo is also available for Palm OS, This allows convenient capture and storage of PaperClick codes on a Palm Pilot (or any Palm OS device) at any time or location. After returning to a PC, the codes automatically transfer at synchronization of the palm Pilot.
