China Yuchai gains as Pacific Exchange to list options (CYD) By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Singapore-based engine maker China Yuchai International (CYD) charged up $3.07, or 17 percent, to $20.76 and were the leading percentage gainers on the NYSE. Volume is 3.52 million shares, which is more than four times its full-day average (812,700 shares). The Pacific Exchange had announced earlier that it would begin trading options on China Yuchai.

The recent outbreak of the SARS virus in China appears to have had little impact on our overall business for the first half of the year. We will continue to monitor the situation in the second half of the year.

USX China Index Launched Today - Is the Only Index Devoted to Chinese-Focused Public Companies Traded on U.S. Stock Exchanges  


DALLAS, Oct 20, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- In response to growing interest
among investors in publicly traded securities with operations in China, the USX
China Index was launched today as the only index in the world devoted
exclusively to Chinese-focused public companies traded on U.S. stock exchanges.

While the USX China Index will be available for newspapers and financial media
worldwide, investors will also be able to access the index via the Internet at
www.usxchinaindex.com starting today.

"The birth of an index devoted exclusively to Chinese-focused publicly held
companies with their securities traded on U.S. stock exchanges was long
overdue," said Tim Halter, managing director of the USX China Index. "It's
appropriate that we launched the index earlier today in Shanghai, China, at a
news conference. The response there has been very enthusiastic. There is a need
and demand from investors for this unique index. We anticipate a positive
response throughout Asia, North America and elsewhere."

He noted that China has the fastest-growing economy in the world. In 2002, China
surpassed the U.S. as the largest recipient of direct foreign investment, an
indicator that "smart money" is rushing into China. "In contrast to the gloomy
mood in the U.S. the past few years, in China I see people with a twinkle in
their eye as their country experiences an economic boom of historic
proportions," Halter said.

Nowhere is this more dramatically reflected than in the results of the USX China
Index for the past 52 weeks. For this period, the USX China Index was up 136%
compared to Nasdaq and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which were up only 52%
and 22% respectively for the same period.

"The stocks in the USX China Index offer investors the opportunity to invest in
China with the safety of the U.S.-regulated securities markets," Halter
explained. "All of the companies in the index are public reporting companies
that have their stocks traded on U.S. exchanges which are governed by the
Securities and Exchange Commission."

Initially, 22 public companies will be represented in the USX China Index. To be
included in the USX China Index, companies must meet the following criteria:





    *  Their primary business is conducted in China.

    *  Their common stock is traded on U.S. exchanges

    *  Each company's market capitalization is more than $50 million

    *  The company is approved by the USX China Index selection committee

       which considers additional factors such as trading volume, public

       interest and shares available to the investing public.

Fast noch schlimmer sieht yahoo aus! fast 28 Milliarden Markapitalisierung und nen Umsatz von knapp ner Milliarde!! lol dat kann nicht gut enden!
Softbank ist mit 17,65 Milliarden bewertet aber umsatzzahlen gibts erst gar nicht...
In 2-3 Wochen müste ich mein eTrade US Konto haben und dann werde ich mir mal stark überlegen ob ich nicht die ein oder andere china Klitsche shorte, wenn der Dow die 10000 erreicht hatt!

hier werden zukunftsaussichten gehandelt. stell dir mal vor, du hättest eine yahoo bei 1-2 milliarden mk gekauft?!

die großen internet- werte wirst du niemals mit fakten wirklich beurteilen können. wichtig ist die marktauffassung der entsprechenden zahlen u. news.

eine sohu o. sina ist immernoch billig im verhältnis zu yahoo. die globalen marktanteil- möglichkeiten durch chinas wto deal werden sich natürlich besonders positiv auf die innländischen portale auswirken.(china hat jetzt schon ca. 80.000 0000 user! und das ist erst der anfang)

yahoo wird sich den weg nach asien weiter freikaufen müssen um seinen hohen stellenwert beizubehalten, während sina, sohu, china, asia.info, tom.com, ntes usw. sich schon einen gehöriges stück vom kuchen gesichert haben.

die china portale gehören zu den besten und aussichtsreichsten titeln für langfristanleger! es gibt kaum was besseres auf dem aktienmarkt. wer sie gelgentlich traden oder shorten möchte, wird auch seine freude an diesen werten haben:) sie sind so wunderbar anfällig gegen schwache händler- nervenkostüme...

ps: zu yahoo! schaut dir mal die eigentlich gehandelten aktien an (stückzahlen). die hauptanteile von yahoo schlummern bei mächtigen adressen im depot. solange dort nicht abverkauft wird, ist yahoo relativ sicher.  

CAAS läuft an der OTC, unsere OTC-Freaks haben nichts gesagt.

China Life IPO (post #1)


China Life Insurance : Weltweit größter Börsengang
Hongkong 13.12.03 (asia-economy.de) Chinas größter Versicherer China Life Insurance geht am 17. Dezember an die Börse New York und Hong Kong. Es ist mit drei Milliarden US Dollar der weltweit größte Börsengang im Jahr 2003. Die Aktien werden am oberen Ende der Bookbuildungspanne bei 18,68 US Dollar ausgegeben. Die Range war zwischen 15,35 US Dollar und 18,80 US Dollar festgelegt. Insgesamt werden 161 Millionen Aktien ausgeschüttet.

Die Nachfrage für die IPO ist enorm. China Life Insurance konnte sogar die auszugebende Aktienanzahl um 8 Millionen Shares auf 161 Millionen anheben. Selbst in der Geschichte Chinas ist außer dem Börsengang des Mobilfunkanbieters China Unicom im Jahre 2000 (5,25 Mrd. US Dollar IPO) keine größere bekannt. Analysten gehen auch davon aus, dass das IPO ein Erfolg wird. Der Analyst Tony Lau von Kim Eng Securities prognostiziert gleich am ersten Handelstag einen Kursanstieg. Die Bewertung mit einem KGV (03) von 17,4 sei ebenfalls im Rahmen der früheren Versicherungen-IPOs.

Über das enorme Wachstumspotential eines Marktführenden Versicherers in China muss man nicht reden. Das Unternehmen verfügt bereits jetzt über 45% des chinesischen Versicherungsmarktes. Die Prämien sind seit 1999 von 87,2 Mrd. Yuan auf 227,5 Mrd. Yuan im Jahr 2002 angestiegen.

Von großem Interesse ist die weiter voranschreitende Öffnung der chinesischen Regierung und gibt dadurch Hoffnung auf mehr Freiheiten für die Produktgestaltung der Versicherungsunternehmen. Mit der Hoffnung auf den Aufbau einer Art Mittelschicht entsteht zusätzliches Potential für den Abschluss von Lebensversicherungen. Ein stetig wachsender Kundenstamm kann darüber hinaus aufgrund der schon jetzt hohen Sparquote der Chinesen erwartet werden. Weiteres Potential trägt China Life in der Attraktivität für ausländische Partner. Hier ist insbesondere das Vertriebsnetzwerk von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung.

Grundsätzlich bewerten wir den China Life Insurace Börsengang als positive. Trotzdem erwarten wir am ersten Handelstag einen deutlichen Kursaufschlag, der sich noch einige Tage fortsetzen wird. Nach den erwartet schnellen Gewinnmitnahmen ist ein Einstieg bei einem KGV von unter 18 sicherlich kein Fehler. 15.12.03 (rh)

China Life wird etwa die Hälfte des schnell wachsenden Marktes mit Lebensversicherungen in China kontrolliert. Der Gewinn des Unternehmens soll dieses Jahr um 18 Prozent auf 5,4 Milliarden Yuan (534 Millionen Euro) steigen. Das Prämienaufkommen dürfte nächstes Jahr um 20 Prozent zunehmen. Positiv stimmt ferner die hohe Wachstumsrate der chinesischen Wirtschaft von derzeit acht Prozent, die auch in den kommenden Jahren erreicht werden soll.

Versicherer in China haben dieses Jahr mit einem Volumen von 305,4 Milliarden Yuan (30 Milliarden Euro) schon 45 Prozent mehr Verträge als im Vorjahr abgeschlossen. Sie können in die Lücken vorstoßen, die der Staat bei seinem Rückzug aus der kommunistischen Rundumversorgung des Milliardenvolkes hinterlässt. Chinas neue Wohlstandsbürger, die schon Auto und Wohnung haben, wenden sich jetzt Versicherungen zu. "Das Einnahmepotenzial ist sehr hoch", sagte Raymond Chan von der Pacific Century Insurance Holdings in Hongkong. "Die wesentliche Unsicherheit ist die Fähigkeit, in Zukunft die Kunden zu halten."

Mit der Marktöffnung durch Chinas Beitritt in die Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) muss sich China Life wachsendem Wettbewerb durch ausländische Versicherer stellen. Beobachter warnen zudem vor den begrenzten Möglichkeiten von China Life, auf Chinas Kapitalmarkt zu investieren. Das Bankensystem Chinas, das von faulen Krediten geplagt ist, berge weitere Risiken. Ferner hinkten Aufsicht und interne Kontrollen im Versicherungswesen hinter den Standards entwickelter Staaten her.

Solche Warnungen weist Zuo Xiaolei von der größten chinesischen Wertpapierfirma Yinhe zurück. Mit dem Börsengang unterwerfe sich China Life internationalen Standards. Der Lebensversicherer sei zum Erfolg verurteilt. "Wer als erster vorangeht, muss erfolgreich sein, weil er als Beispiel dient", sagte die Analystin. China Life ist der zweitgrößte Börsengang eines chinesischen Unternehmens überhaupt und wird nur von China Unicom mit 5,25 Milliarden US-Dollar im Jahre 2000 übertroffen. Das frühere Staatsunternehmen genieße starke politische Unterstützung durch die Regierung. "Deswegen ist das Risiko relativ gering."
