Vipshop Holdings late Tuesday posted Q3 EPS and sales that more than doubled year-earlier figures and beat expectations, but its Q4 revenue guidance was merely in line and shares fell late.

Vipshop (NYSE:VIPS) stock has nearly tripled this year and expectations were high heading into the Q3 report. In after-hours trading, Vipshop stock was down 6% after first rising 2% after results were released.

Investors may have expected a bigger beat and higher guidance. JG Capital analyst Henry Guo told IBD in a pre-earnings interview that high investor expectations were "already baked into the stock."

Zahlen die Erwartungen übertroffen und dennoch Kursverluste ?
Sehr komisch die Aktie zur Zeit .  

kommen mal wieder die Shorties ins Schwitzen..  

... ist aus meiner Sicht ein wenig enttäuschend. Hier hätte ich mehr erwartet. Bei ca. 20 $ könnte sich wieder ein Einstieg lohnen...    

heute gar keiner Verkaufen nach dem sehr clever vom Unternehmen vorsichtigen Ausblick..Bietet im Umkehrschluss wieder mehr Fantasie als bei Alibaba und C0!

China’s apparel flash sale e-commerce Vipshop (VIPS) fell 5.4% after beating third-quarter earnings but reporting flat sequential active customer growth.

According to Morgan Stanley, comparing third-quarter active customer base with that of second-quarter is misleading, because now Vipshop’s active customer base also includes traffic from Lefeng, a discount makeup e-commerce it bought in February, which has been falling behind.

Apart from Lefeng, the Group Buy business was also a drag, wrote analyst Robert Lin and team.  
We think its Group Buy business’ customer and orders declined 50% and 60% qoq, respectively. Given relatively small GMV contribution of the Group Buy business or 3% of GMV in 3Q14 (5% in 2Q), we expect Vipshop to maintain robust growth after rebasing this year. Its Lefeng unit saw sequentially declining number of active customers and orders; further dragging its 3Q results.

But if you just look at Vipshop’s core flash sale customer base, the e-commerce is still growing strongly. “We think active customers and orders of core flash sales business grew 14% and 2% qoq, respectively.”

Morgan Stanley raised their 2014-2016 earnings estimate by 11-12% and their price target from $25.90 to $28. Vipshop closed at $22.44.

I believe Vipshop still has plenty of room to run and will be getting many upgrades from analysts over the coming days and weeks. With that, don't be surprised to see price targets up in the $30 range now.

Von der Entwicklung und vom Wachstum überzeugt mich dieses Unternehmen sehr.Besonders die Cleverness auch beim Ausblick zu dämpfen im Wissen auf eine erneute,gigantische Wachstumsphase ist wohlüberlegt...Da kann sich selbst Apple ne Scheibe abschneiden.

ja das fiel mir auch auf,nicht nur bei JD ,auch bei anderen chinesischen Aktien,man denke nur an Bitauto,Autohome,Canadian Solar,-die Gewinne sind toll ,die Aktien sind hochgerannt und dann kommt der Report und die Aktie ruht oder schlimmer noch sie fällt,so als ob alle Angst haben vor Muddy Waters oder der PCOB .Wie ich schon sagte,man sollte sich überlegen während des Reports auszusteigen

Something pretty strange is going on with Chinese e-retailer stocks around earnings lately. Usually, they run up between reports, and then, when reports come in usually better than expected, they get decimated. .....

Vipshop Holdings Ltd – ADR (VIPS)

In July of 2013, when I bought shares of Chinese online retailer Vipshop Holdings Ltd – ADR (VIPS), I had no idea how long I would own VIPS shares. Vipshop had the right fundamentals and institutions were showing buying interest. So, I added Vipshop stock to my portfolios.

Since then, I have heard all the pundits saying that all Chinese stocks were frauds, the Chinese economy was on the verge of collapse and that Chinese consumers were going to stop spending. Yet, every Monday when I consulted Portfolio Grader, the Vipshop stock ranking stayed at “buy” or “strong buy.” So, I ignored all the doom-and-gloom and held onto my VIPS shares based on the numbers as crunched by Portfolio Grader. As a result, I still own VIPS, which is an “A-rated” stock, and have enjoyed gains of more than 600% since my initial buy.

I have no idea how long I will own a stock from the time it is initially identified as a “buy” or “strong buy” stock. Earning an “A” or  a “B” from Portfolio Grader is not easy. Very few companies can keep up that type of stellar performance for an extended period of time. Those that do will reward you with huge returns. Analysts have been raising their estimates for Vipshop in both 2014 and 2015.
