Universal Detection Technology Comments on Recently Reported Fatality Caused by MRSA Induced Pneumonia
Universal Detection Technology's Anti-Microbial Product Line Designed to Eliminate MRSA
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 26, 2008) - Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UDTT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, commented today on the recent report of a fatality caused by Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (MRSA) induced pneumonia of a student at Western Washington University. UDT recently launched a new hub for online sales and marketing of anti-microbial products that eliminate harmful bacteria such as MRSA.
The 20-year-old student was admitted to the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Hospital in Washington on February 14th after experiencing two weeks of coughing that progressed to fever, vomiting and coughing up blood. Doctors gave him antibiotics, but they were unable to help the young man, who eventually died.
Pneumonia caused by MRSA is a recent phenomenon, only being recognized as a confirmed strain 5 years ago. Adding to this growing concern is the fact that over the last number of years the MRSA bug has been moving out of nursing home and hospital settings and into public places such as schools. This is the second reported death of a student from MRSA in the last year. MRSA is responsible for more than 94,000 serious infections and nearly 19,000 deaths each year.
"The recent spread of MRSA to schools is very alarming," said Mr. Jacques Tizabi, UDTT's Chief Executive Officer. "Our line of anti-microbial products consisting of various sprays, foggers and detergents are designed to eliminate surfaces and keep them sterile for a period following application," he added.

Universal Detection Technology Receives Purchase Order for Anti MRSA Products From Chinese Distributor
Partner in China, With the Highest Rate of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria, to Purchase Anti Microbial Chemical
LOS ANGELES, March 27, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB:UDTT) (Frankfurt:PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that it has received a purchase order for anti MRSA products from its Chinese distributor. The purchase order has been placed by Kadinuo Science and Technology in Beijing, China.
Kadinuo Science and Technology has been active in introduction and promotion of advanced radiation instruments in the Chinese market for over 10 years. Presently, the company is a strong regional supplier of emergency nuclear monitors, environmental radiation monitors, decontamination technologies, and the like.
"This is the second purchase order we have received from our Chinese distributor pursuant to our recent agreement. The first order was related to our line of bioterrorism detection products. We look forward to establishing an effective and long term relationship with Kadinuo and to use their influence to find a market for our products and services in China both in the counter-terrorism market and in the anti-microbial market," said Mr. Jacques Tizabi, UDTT's Chairman and CEO.
Studies show that China has the highest rate of antibiotic resistant bacteria strains in the world. The World Health Organization West Pacific Regional Office has set up two antimicrobial resistance surveillance centers in Beijing and Shanghai. Data from the offices show the prevalence of both hospital-acquired and community-acquired MRSA strains in both cities. Moreover, the breakout of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the spring of 2003 illustrates how an infectious disease with limited therapeutic options can spread rapidly across national borders. Rapidly increasing travel and migration within China probably contributes to the growth of that nation's resistance problem. It may also spur the spread of China's resistance problems overseas as globalization greatly increases travel from and to that nation.
UDTT is a supplier of counter terrorism services and technologies to private and government organizations. The Company owns the license to a patented technology developed at NASA's JPL and utilized in UDTT's BSM-2000 used for autonomous monitoring of the air for presence of airborne bacterial spores such as anthrax. Universal Detection Technology Receives Purchase Order for Hand Held Assays From Israeli Company
Hand Held Assays Used for Detection of Anthrax Sold to Israeli Company
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 22, 2008) - Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UDTT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and a provider of counter terrorism training and solutions, announced today that it has received a purchase order from an Israeli company for Company's Hand Held Assays (HHA).
The Israeli government as well as private security firms are actively improving their preparedness for a bioterror attack as the potential threat of such an attack from terror organizations and states with active biological weapon programs, such as Syria, grows. As an example, large numbers of the Israeli population have received smallpox inoculations.
UDTT's anthrax detection HHAs have provided accurate results to users in the field in as little as three minutes. The assays have been purchased by first responders throughout the country as well as the U.S. Army. The kits are able to detect anthrax spores well below the threshold for an infectious dose.
"We have seen increased interest in our bioterrorism detection kits recently from Israeli security firms and we hope that this trend can open up doors to more international sales of UDTT's HHAs," said Mr. Jacques Tizabi, UDTT's Chief Executive Officer.

Article by Universal Detection Technology Featured in the Counter Terrorist Magazine
Article Titled "Combating the Evolving Threat of Biological Terrorism," by Universal Detection Technology Published in Industry Publication
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 25, 2008) -
Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UDTT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and a provider of counter terrorism training and solutions, announced today that a recent article titled "Combating the Evolving Threat of Biological Terrorism" drafted by UDTT's Director of Research and Development, Mr. Amir Ettehadieh has been published in the Counter Terrorist Magazine.
The Article describes the bio-terrorist threat facing the nation from both homegrown and foreign terrorist elements and the necessary steps that need to be taken by the government to combat this lethal WMD threat.
Unlike other weapons of mass destruction, biological agents used as a weapon of war are easy to conceal, easy to release, and designed to cause the simultaneous infection of mass casualties. The Nation must therefore be able to prepare for and respond to the evolving threat of bioterrorism and react to all manner of mass casualty incidents as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The three biggest life threatening Bio-terror scenarios that arguably pose the greatest threats to humans are a smallpox attack, an airborne anthrax attack, and a release of botulinum toxin in particular the milk supply.
The Anthrax mailings of 2001 were the most recent bio-terror attack involving weaponized anthrax. It is widely believed that the anthrax mailings were work of a domestic terrorist with access to advanced bio-weapon manufacturing equipment. Prior to that, the Aum Shinrikyo cult in Japan attempted an anthrax release in Tokyo in 1995 that did not cause any casualties due to the less virulent strain of anthrax used. Most disturbing is Al-Qaeda's pursuit of biological weapons evidence of which was uncovered in safe houses in Afghanistan.
The government currently has programs such as Project Bio-watch to monitor the air in large metropolitan areas as well as equipment in place to scan mail for bio-weapons. However, these programs need to be upgraded to allow for more rapid detection of an attack as well as being able to detect modified and more virulent stains of bio-weapons.
US-Regierung warnt vor erhöhter Terrorgefahr in China
Washington. sda/reuters/afp/baz.

Universal Detection Technology Completes First Phase of Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Application for the BSM-2000
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) -
Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UDTT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that it has completed the first Phase of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) SAFETY Act Application for the BSM-2000 airborne anthrax spore monitor. The SAFETY Act provides liability protection to help promote the creation, deployment and use of anti-terrorism technologies.
The Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (SAFETY Act) provides important legal liability protections for providers of Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies -- whether they are products or services. The goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism products and services by providing liability protections. The SAFETY Act provides incentives for the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies by creating a system of "risk management" and a system of "litigation management." The purpose of the Act is to ensure that the threat of liability does not deter potential manufacturers or Sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing and commercializing technologies that could save lives.
"We are happy to announce the completion of the first phase of our application towards obtaining a SAFETY Act designation for the BSM-2000," said Mr. Jacques Tizabi, UDTT's Chief Executive Officer. "The process ensures that we continue our established dialogue with the Department of Homeland Security's SAFETY Act office towards obtaining this crucial designation for our technology," he added.

Universal Detection Technology Introduces New Line of Radiation Detectors Primarily for Use by First Responders Expanding Company's Presence in the CBRN Detection Field
Credit Card Sized Radiation Dosimeters Provide Visual Measurement of Absorbed Radiation Dose
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 2, 2008) - Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UDTT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and a provider of counter terrorism training and solutions, announced today that in its efforts to supply more comprehensive CBRN solutions, the Company is initiated the sales and marketing on credit card sized radiation dosimeters.
The new product is UDTT's RADView™ PD Dosimeter badge, a lightweight credit card size radiation dosimeter incorporating a self-developing radiochromic film to provide visual measurement of absorbed radiation dose. The film develops a distinctive and characteristic color upon exposure to ionizing radiation, becoming progressively darker in proportion to absorbed dose. RADView PD dosimeters are unaffected by brief exposures to sunlight or normal room light. The films are water-resistant, tissue equivalent, energy independent and dose-rate independent. The badges do not require calibration, maintenance, or any electronics or batteries. Under most conditions, the dosimeter can be worn for one year before replacement. A quick visual observation of a RADView PD dosimeter allows anyone to assess the absorbed dose.
"This distribution deal expands the range of products we offer to the First Responder Community and is a positive step in our efforts to become providers of complete CBRN detection technologies. The RADView dosimeter is a reliable and tested product that can be used by police, firefighters, emergency medical staff, assessment personnel, remediation crews or any practice with potential duties at an emergency site," said Jacques Tizabi, CEO of Universal Detection Technology.
Universal Detection Technology is a supplier of counter-terrorism services and technologies to private and government organizations. The Company owns the license to a patented technology developed at NASA's JPL and utilized in its BSM-2000, capable of autonomous monitoring of the air for presence of airborne bacterial spores such as anthrax. UDTT also supplies hand held assays for detection of up to 5 bioterrorism agents. Among the Company's other products are radiation detection systems, educational material & training DVDs, and antimicrobial chemicals.
The Company recently announced that it has completed the first phase of its application towards obtaining SAFETY Act designation. The Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (SAFETY Act) provides important legal liability protections for providers of Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies, whether they are products or services.
