Seajacks has been awarded a contract from Dong Energy
A/S for the provision of 'Seajacks Leviathan'
and 'Seajacks Kraken' for installation of wind
turbines on Walney 1 and Walney 2 windfarms, which
are to be located in the Irish Sea.
Seajacks Kraken has been contracted for a firm period
of approximately 15 months from June 15th 2010
(excluding mobilisation and demobilisation).
Seajacks Leviathan has been contracted for a firm
period of approximately 3 months from May 15th 2011
(excluding mobilisation and demobilisation).
Total contract value excluding mobilisation and
demobilisation is a minimum of approx. $70 million up
to a maximum of approx. $79 million depending on the
duration of the period between final conclusion of
Walney 1 and commencement of Walney 2.
"We're proud that a company with Dong Energy's
reputation and experience recognizes the value of our
self-propelled jack-ups that have been designed
specifically to operate in the harsh environment of
North-West Europe, and we look forward to developing
a close working relationship with this client" said
Seajacks Managing Director Blair Ainslie.
Jens Hansen, Walney Project Manager for Dong Energy
concurred with Ainslie's comments, "We are very
pleased to be entering into these contracts with
Seajacks. Their two new vessels bring a new dimension
to the wind farm business and we are delighted to
have secured both Kraken and Leviathan for Walney."
Mr Ainslie adds "We have worked hard to overcome the
challenges associated with delivering sophisticated
newbuildings on time and on budget, and are very
proud of our achievements to date. We look forward to
meeting operational challenges with similar success,
and delivering on our stated goal of working to the
highest operational and safety standards regardless
of the work being performed by our vessels".
Seajacks Kraken is currently working on a 5 months
contract for ExxonMobil Offshore Canada, and the soon
to be delivered sister vessel Seajacks Leviathan will
be starting a 15 months contract in September 2009,
installing wind turbines for Fluor Ltd. on the
Greater Gabbard wind farm off the Essex and Suffolk
coast of the North Sea.
